Appeal against Knox, Sollecito acquittal set for March

(ANSA) - Rome, July 18 - Italy's supreme Court of Cassation
said on Thursday that it will start hearing on March 25 the
prosecutors' appeal against the acquittal of Amanda Knox and
Raffaele Sollecito for the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher.
The former boyfriend and girlfriend were cleared in March
2011 of killing the British exchange student following an
alleged sex-game-gone-wrong.
At the original trial, Knox and Sollecito were given
26-year and 25-year sentences respectively.
Rudy Guede, an Italian-Ivorian drifter, is the only person
in jail for the murder.
Guede opted for a fast-track trial separately from Knox and
Sollecito and was given a 30-year sentence, later cut to 16
years on appeal, a sentence confirmed by the Cassation.
