Beagles freed from experimentation up for adoption

(ANSA) - Milan, July 23 - The 2,700 dogs confiscated last
Wednesday by police from the controversial Green Hill dog
breeding facility in northern Italy will be handed over to two
Italian non-profit organizations that will oversee their
adoption, a Milan court said on Monday.
Authorities began inspections last week in preparation for
the closure of the breeding center for beagles destined for
scientific experimentation owned by the multinational firm
Marshall Farms.
Police said that three managers at the facility are under
investigation for animal cruelty.
The Italian animal rights association LAV and environmental
advocacy group Legambiente will oversee their adoption process.
