Italy web pirates say 'arrivederci' to

(ANSA) - Cagliari, August 1 - Italian police on Wednesday
confirmed that online file-sharing site is
no longer accessible to web users in Italy.
Authorities blocked access to the site on May 23 following
the orders of prosecutors in Cagliari, Sardinia, who ordered to
block the site because of the vast amount of pirated material
that was available on it.
Investigators said that the site was "one of the most
fortified digital platforms for piracy to take over the market
share left open after the forced shutdown of btjunkie".
Access to the site is now impossible from Italy and
attempts to reach it dropped by 65% after the blocking order as
Italian internet service providers immediately complied with the
orders, police said.
Kickasstorrents, better known as "Kat" by web surfers, is
estimated to have generated up to $8.5 million in annual
revenues through hosting banner ads.
