Obama calls for decisive crisis action in Monti call

(ANSA) - New York, August 1 - United States President Barack
Obama again called for the European Union to take "decisive
action" to solve the eurozone crisis in a telephone conversation
with Italian Premier Mario Monti late on Tuesday, the White
House said.
Monti travelled to Paris for talks with French President
Francoise Hollande on Tuesday, kicking off a tour of meetings to
discuss the crisis that will include encounters in Finland with
Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen and in Madrid with Spanish Prime
Minister Mariano Rajoy.
Obama is worried that the knock-on effects of Europe's
troubles could make the economic situation in the US even worse
and affect his chances of winning re-election in November.
The White House statement said the president regularly
makes contact with European leaders to talk about the crisis.
