Foreigners earn less than Italians for same job, says report


(ANSA) - Venice, August 2 - Salaries for foreigners
employed in Italy are substantially lower for the same position
held by their Italian counterparts, said the Leone Moressa
Foundation in Venice in a report published Thursday.
The study compared 2011 third-quarter pay slips throughout
Italy and found that on the average, an Italian monthly salary
of 973 euros translates into 316 euros less for the equivalent
position held by a non-Italian in Venice.
Foreigners working in the northern region of Friuli
Venezia-Giulia earn an average of 1,113 euros per month, while
in Calabria the stipend for the same position averages 674
