Green Hill dogs will not be returned to facility, says court

(ANSA) - Rome, August 3 - A court in the northern Italian
town of Brescia ruled on Friday that the 2,500 dogs confiscated
by police from the controversial Green Hill facilities will not
be returned to the kennels where they were being bred for
scientific experiments.
The beagles, half of which are three to eight months old
and many pregnant adult females, were seized during inspections
in preparation for the closure of the breeding center owned by
the multinational firm Marshall Farms.
Police inspections led to three company managers being put
under investigation for animal cruelty.
The court ruled that adoptions started last week, overseen
by the Italian animal rights association LAV and environmental
advocacy group Legambiente, will continue.
However, the confiscated facility will be returned to
Marshall Farms.
