Growth package approved by parliament

(ANSA) - Rome, August 3 - A decree to help boost Italy's
sluggish growth was approved in the Senate on Friday.
Industry Minister Corrado Passera said the package strikes
at "the country's weak points".
The decree is part of a series of measures and structural
reforms, including liberalisations and changes to the labour
market, Premier Mario Monti's emergency government of
non-political technocrats is introducing to revitalize the
sluggish national economy.
Included in the package are incentives for home
improvements, a fund supporting technological innovation and
research, and also measures to speed up the civil court system
by reducing the number of cases permitted for appeals.
Passera said it will "give the necessary impetus to the
economy of a country that has not grown in many years".
