Notorious doping doctor denies advising Schwazer

(ANSA)- Ferrara, August 8 - A doctor banned from sports for
life over anti-doping violations denied on Wednesday advising
Italy's disgraced Olympic walk champion in his use of
performance-enhancing drugs that led to his exclusion from the
2012 London Games this week.
"I haven't been in touch with Alex Schwazer for roughly 18
months," said Michele Ferrari. "I never gave him doping advice,
nor did he ever ask me for it".
Earlier on Wednesday Schwazer admitted to having had
contact with Ferrari, who was banned last month from sport for
life over numerous anti-doping violations.
Schwazer said the contact ended last year amid accusations
of Ferrari administering drugs to cyclists.
"I contacted Dr. Ferrari in 2009 for technical advice,
nothing more...Since 2011, when the cycling news surfaced, I
haven't spoken to him again".
The Beijing gold medalist says he acquired the
blood-boosting hormone EPO in Turkey with no one's help.
