Two die after losing control of car in rally practice


(ANSA) - Rome, August 9 - Two men died late on Wednesday in a
car crash after the driver lost control of the vehicle during a
practice run for a rally on Sunday.
Francesco Cascone, 27, and Vittorio Canestraro, 52, were
travelling in their Renault Clio on a track in preparation for
the race in Santopadre, some 80 km southeast of Rome, when their
car slipped off the road and crashed in a gorge.
The accident happened around 23:00 local time. According to
the police, the car rolled over twice before stopping, killing
the driver and navigator on the spot.
The rally on Sunday may be cancelled following the
