Italian union sees hope in government promise to lower taxes

(ANSA) - Rome, August 23 - The head of Italian labor union
CISL, Raffaele Bonanni, on Thursday said he hoped Italy's
government will lower its tax take on personal income.
Earlier Thursday Elsa Fornero, Italy's labor minister, who
has been the lightning rod of union attacks for pensions and
labor-market reforms which seek to make Italy's economy more
competitive, said she would make the case with government
colleagues for lower taxes.
"I hope the same determination is used in reducing taxes as
was used in passing pension and labor-market reforms," Bonanni
said, commenting on Fornero's remarks.
