Venice Film Fest line-up has stars to match artistry


(ANSA) - Venice, August 27 - The 69th Venice International
Film Festival opens on August 29 under the direction of the
Italian film critic Alberto Barbera, who returns to the helm
after an absence of 10 years.
The quality of the films on offer is reflected in the
calibre of the stars expected to attend, from Joaquin Phoenix
and Philip Seymour Hoffman, protagonists of Paul Thomas
Anderson's long-awaited "The Master", one of 18 films competing
for the coveted Golden Lion award, to Robert Redford and Shia
Labeouf of "The company you keep", which will premiere out of
competition; the good-looking Swedish TV actor Alexander
Skarsgard, Gerard Depardieu and Emmanuelle Seigner in "L'homme
qui rit"; Kristin Scott Thomas and Jean Pierre Bacri in
"Cherchez Hortense"; and Pierce Brosnan in "Love is all you
need" by Susanne Bier.
Italy is represented by the likes of Pierfrancesco Favino
and Isabella Ferrari, jury members respectively for the section
Orizzonti and the prize Leone del Futuro, Claudia Cardinale,
Gianmarco Tognazzi, Piergiorgio Bellocchio, Valerio Mastandrea,
Luigi Lo Cascio in his directorial debut and the acclaimed Toni
Servillo, protagonist of Daniele Ciprì's film "E' stato il
figlio", to name a few.
