37 'Ndrangheta arrests around Milan

(ANSA) - Milan, September 11 - Italian police on Tuesday
arrested 37 suspects in a sweep against the Calabrian-based
'Ndrangheta mafia in Lombardy, the region around Milan.
Those arrested are accused of mafia association, possession
of arms, loan-sharking and extortion.
Police said the probe uncovered links between the
well-entrenched Lombard factions of 'Ndrangheta and their
original clans down in Calabria.
'Ndrangheta has been active in Lombardy and other parts of
northern Italy for decades.
It also has branches in Germany and other northern European
countries as well as Australia and Canada.
