Pope's ex-butler worried for children ahead of trial

(ANSA) - Vatican City, September 27 - Pope Benedict
XVI's former butler Paolo Gabriele's main worries are for his
children ahead of the start of his trial this weekend for being
in illegal possession of confidential Church documents.
"At the moment Paolo's main concern is for his children,
above all the distress in their lives caused by the media impact
(of the case)," a source close to Gabriele's family told ANSA.
The trial of the butler, who is charged with aggravated
theft, is due to start on Saturday.
Gabriele was arrested in May following probes into the
leaking of sensitive Vatican documents to the media in a case
that was dubbed 'VatiLeaks'.
He is currently under house arrest after spending two
months in a Vatican cell following his detention, which shocked
the Catholic world.
A Vatican IT expert, Claudio Sciarpelletti, will also go on
trial on the lesser charge of aiding and abetting.
