Inquiry opened into Emilia-Romagna region


(ANSA) - Bologna, September 28 - Bologna prosecutors on
Friday opened an inquiry into the Emilia-Romagna region's
handling of public funds.
The prosecutors, who cite no specific wrongdoing, are
already investigating Paolo Nanni, the Bologna provincial leader
of the anti-corruption party Italy of Values (IdV), for
allegedly mishandling party money.
"If Paolo Nanni has any explanations, he'll tell them to
the prosecutors. Otherwise he'll answer to the law," said party
leader and former anti-graft judge Antonio Di Pietro.
