Police use DNA to catch thieves from hundreds of robberies

(ANSA) - Reggio Emilia, October 4 - Police used DNA to track
down two thieves believed to be part of a gang responsible for
hundreds of burglaries.
Two Moldovans, aged 23 and 27, are said to be behind the
string of thefts that began in 2008, many of which occurred in
Italy's Emilia-Romagna region.
Police used DNA taken from cigarette butts and a ski mask
found in a stolen car.
During their investigations police also recovered stolen
property, including cars, vans, and computers worth a total of
more than 200,000 euros.
