(ANSA)- Pomigliano d'Arco, October 30 - Plant workers' wives
on Tuesday called for a meeting in the long-running labour
dispute at car makers Fiat's plant at Pomigliano d'Arco near
Naples.
A group of unemployed workers' wives announced the
initiative on Tuesday with an open letter - "from woman to
woman" - inviting other women like themselves to join them in a
meeting on November 24 in a municipal library.
"Now, today, since no one hides the failure of (Fiat CEO
Sergio) Marchionne's plan, and since Fiat is pulling out of
Italy to outsource abroad, the future promises unemployment for
all workers, including those of (Fiat) suppliers," read the
letter.
"As wives, partners, mothers and female plant workers,
let's go on the pitch next to our men for a united fight: for
work, beginning with Fiat's plants," wrote the women, adding
that they'd like to see all the group's factories nationalized.
