Premier Monti praises government's labour-market reforms

Naples, November 12 - Italy's labour market reforms
do not exclude the nation's youth, Premier Mario Monti claimed
In fact, they are designed to reinvigorate the labour
market, to open it to more young people, he said in remarks to
an Italian-German conference being held in Naples.
"The whole market reform work, recently adopted by the
Italian parliament, aims to create a more inclusive and dynamic
(market), able to overcome the (divisions) that tend to exclude
or marginalize young people".
The Monti government's reforms include liberalizing many
sectors as well as new labour-market measures that will make it
easier for firms to dismiss workers, a move designed to boost
productivity and make companies more inclined to hire people.
Outside agencies, such as the Organisation for Economic
Co-operation and Development (OECD), have praised the reforms,
saying they will boost gross domestic product in Italy.
