Fim-CISL union offices in Rome 'devastated' in ambush

Florence, November 13 - A band of people attacked
two workers and vandalized interiors of the Rome office of the
FIM-CISL metal workers' union on Tuesday.
"This morning, about 15 hooded people entered the Rome
FIM-CISL in via Ruggero Bonghi…and threw paint and eggs. The
office was devastated. A worker, who happened to be inside the
office, was beaten up, and another was dragged and thrown to the
ground, paint strewn from his head downward," said Mario
Bertone, general secretary of Rome CISL, in a note.
FIM-CISL blamed "fascist thugs" in another written
statement posted on its website.
"There are thugs for whom any occasion is good for
committing acts of vandalism," said Raffaele Bonanni, CISL's
national general secretary. "What happened is very worrying and
very serious," added the union leader at the margins of an event
in Florence.
