Police find secret underground hideout for camorra fugitives

(ANSA) – Casapesenna (Caserta), November 14 – Police from
Caserta, near Naples, uncovered what appears to be a hideout
used by fugitives from the Camorra crime syndicate in a small,
nearby town.
Police found the shelter some five meters underground,
under an uninhabited house owned by a local entrepreneur with no
criminal record.
To reach the hideout, police had to knock down one of the
house’s walls.
In James Bond-like fashion, police found a secret elevator
which brought down to the hideaway.
The circa 60 square meter room was abandoned save for some
disassembled furniture.
In December 2011 police found and captured long-time
fugitive Camorra crime boss Michele Zagaria, ex-head of the
Casalesi crime family, in a similar underground hideout not far
from the one they uncovered Wednesday.
