Next govt must keep implementing Monti reforms says IMF

New York, November 29 - The government that emerges
from next spring's general election must stick to the reform
agenda of Premier Mario Monti, the International Monetary Fund
said Thursday.
Monti's "structural reforms and strong measures to stabilise
the budget...go in the right direction," said IMF External
Relations Director Gerry Rice.
"What counts is continuing to implement these reforms".
Monti, who took over from Silvio Berlusconi a year ago, has
passed spending cuts and pension reforms aimed at structurally
balancing the budget next year and starting to bring down
Italy's huge debt, 120% of GDP, the second-biggest in the
eurozone after Greece's.
