Primary candidates' debate ranks number one prime time

Rome, November 29 - State broadcaster RAI said
that the televised debate between Democratic Party (PD) primary
candidates Pier Luigi Bersani and Florence Mayor Matteo Renzi
aired Wednesday attracted over 6.5 million viewers, making it
the most watched prime-time program that evening.
The program shown on RAI 1 conducted by Monica Maggioni
raked in a 22.85% share, ranking above the Canale 5 program
Crimine Imperfetti (Imperfect Crimes) that attracted just over
4.6 viewers for a 16.98% share.
Bersani, a 61-year-old former industry minister, finished
on top of the first round in the primaries Sunday, with 44.9% of
over three million votes cast, after most of the
ballots had been counted on Monday.
Renzi, a 37-year-old who presents himself as a modernizer,
was second with 35.5%.
