Soccer: Inter deny trying to bully Sneijder to take pay cut

Milan, November 29 - Inter Milan have denied
leaving Wesley Sneijder on the sidelines in an attempt to bully
the Dutch playmaker into accepting a new contract with a salary
Sneijder, 28, has not played for Inter since September
despite having recovered from a thigh injury and returning to
training with his teammates.
Inter's Technical Director Marco Branca was recently quoted
in the Italian media as saying Sneijder would not return to
action until he reached an agreement with the club on a new
deal. His existing contract runs for two more years.
But Chairman Massimo Moratti said Inter were not trying to
coerce the player after the global footballers' union, FIFApro,
said Wednesday that it was concerned about clubs using
"blackmail" in negotiations.
"There isn't any blackmail," Moratti said.
"If a contract is valid, it's also valid to ask a person if
it can be improved .
"The fact is that for the time being he's not playing for
footballing reasons".
