Milan fetes Cupid and Psyche in ENI Christmas show

Milan, November 30 - The fable of Cupid and Psyche
from Apuleius' Metamorphoses is at the heart of an exhibition
that opened in Milan on Friday.
The show, Amore e Psiche, has been put on thanks to an
initiative by Italian energy group ENI in partnership with the
Louvre in Paris.
It features two masterpieces of Neoclassical art: 'Amore e
Psiche Stanti' (1797) by Italian sculptor Antonio Canova and
'Psyche' et l'Amour' (1798) by French painter Franois Gerard.
The works are on display together for the first time and
can be viewed in the Alessi room in Palazzo Marino until January
''Milan is our city and we want to continue with our
tradition of giving the Milanese a Christmas present together
with the city council and the Louvre,'' said ENI CEO Paolo
The initiative is expected to attract more than the 210,000
people who came last year to admire the 17th-century works 'The
Adoration of the shepherds' and 'Joseph, the carpenter' by
Georges de La Tour.
