Austerity protest turns violent in Modena

Modena, December 6 - Austerity protests became
violent in Modena on Thursday with clashes injuring two police
officers and one student.
The march, which was organized to oppose cuts to schools,
arrived in front of the offices of Italian industrial

to enter but were blocked by police.
Other demonstrators hurled eggs and smoke bombs.
The injured student was struck by a police night stick
across the neck as he reached to pick up a banner.
