Monti says no immediate plans to meet with Napolitano

Rome, December 6 - Italian Premier Mario Monti on
Thursday dampened expectations of a snap election in Italy after
Silvio Berlusconi's center-right PdL party withdrew its support
for him in two votes, saying he had no plans to go and meet with
President Giorgio Napolitano, to whom he would have had to
tender his resignation.
''I have no such move planned'', Monti said in answer to
journalists' questions asking if he planned to meet with the
president in coming hours.
''As I have said, I am waiting to hear what the
President's evaluation of the current situation is''.
Monti was speaking at a press conference in Rome after a
cabinet meeting.
