Italy's securities watchdog nets 9.26 million euros in 2012


Milan, January 7 - Italy's securities commission
collected 9.26 million euros in fines in 2012 and issued
penalties in 159 cases last year, the agency said Monday.
In its first report of 2013, the Italian Securities and
Exchange Commission (Consob) said it looked into 172 cases last
year, of which 159 required penalties.
Total fines applied reached 9.26 million euros, a sizable
increase from the 7.8 million euros in financial penalties
assessed in 2011.
Consob also announced the resignation of commission member
Luca Enriques.
