Soccer: Milan's Allegri bemused by Berlusconi cold shoulder

Milan, January 8 - AC Milan boss Massimiliano
Allegri said Tuesday he was bewildered by club owner Silvio
Berlusconi's refusal to comment on the coach's future in a
television interview.
Allegri is still on the Milan bench after coming under
intense pressure as his team made a poor start to this season.
This had eased a little after Milan qualified for the last
16 of the Champions League in December and racked up some good
results in Serie A, excluding a 4-2 thumping at AS Roma.
They are seventh in Serie A with 30 points from 19 games,
14 points behind leaders Juventus, after beating Siena 2-1 at
home last weekend.
"I don't know why Berlusconi did not answer when asked
about my future," Allegri told a press conference.
"I don't intend to say anything about this. I have a
contract until 2014 and I intend to respect it.
"I have an excellent relationship with Berlusconi".
Berlusconi has said in the past that he would like to have
former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola on Milan's bench but he
admitted on Monday that this was unlikely to happen.
Allegri also tried to sidestep the controversy raised by
Berlusconi dismissing reports Milan would like to sign Mario
Balotelli from Manchester City on the grounds that he sees the
Italy forward as a "bad apple".
"I prefer not to comment," Allegri said. "I can't say if
he's a bad apple because I've never coached him. He's an asset
for Italian soccer".
