Two skiers killed by Cortina avalanche identified as cousins

Cortina D'Ampezzo, January 25 – Two skiers killed
in an avalanche Friday in the Dolomites mountain range near
Cortina D'Ampezzo were identified as 54-year-old Martin Messner
and 41-year-old Bernhard Messner.
The two, who are cousins from the town of Anterselva di
Mezzo, were found dead by rescue workers on Friday after having
gone missing following an avalanche close to the resort town in
northern Italy.
The two men were on an unmarked slope when a large part of
the frozen face of the Cristallo peak detached near the White
Crest area, sending down tons of snow and ice.
Martin Messner managed a hotel called Vierbrunnenhof, while
Bernhard Messner worked for the mountain range services in the
province of Bolzano.
