Italian bonds drop to lowest levels since 2010 at auction

Rome, January 30 - The interest rates on Italian
bonds dropped to their lowest levels in over two years on
Thursday, when the latest in a series of successful auctions
gave another signal that pressure is easing on the country's
borrowing costs.
The Treasury sold 6.5 billion euros worth of five-year and
10-year BTP bonds.
The average interest rate set for the 10-year bonds was
4.17%, the lowest since October 2010 and down from 4.48% at the
last equivalent auction in December.
The rate on the five-year bond dropped to 2.94%, again the
lowest since 2010, and down from 3.26% last time.
