Centre-left wants 'super development ministry' if wins vote

Rome, February 14 - The head of Italy's Democratic
Party (PD) on Thursday said that if his centre-left coalition
wins the February 24-25 general election he would consider
creating a ''super development ministry''.
In an interview with daily Il Messaggero's web television,
Pierluigi Bersani said he was considering creating a new
ministry to rebalance the powers of the Treasury, which in
recent years has increasingly gained influence on policy, he
Bersani, whose coalition was in front in the polls before a
pre-election blackout of opinion surveys kicked in last week,
said the new ministry would help concentrate the government's
efforts on growth and the real economy over finance.
