Italian agents warn of 'spectacular' terrorist threats

Rome, February 28 - In their annual report to
parliament on Thursday, Italy's secret services warned of the
risk of "spectacular terrorist attacks" as the threat from
anarchist groups remains "extended and multiform".
In their report, the secret services said how the failed
assassination plot against Roberto Adinolfi, the chief executive
of Ansaldo Nucleare, which left the executive wounded last May,
marked a "raising of the threat" by anarchist groups.
The current economic climate is seen as being "potentially
favorable" to "direct actions," the report said.
The services warned that in this context there are groups
who aim to "subvert the system", calling to "overcome
hesitation" and to take "conflict action".
However, the arrests of various anarchists, the services
report, have stopped these projects.
Following their anti-terrorism procedures, the secret
services report, actions by the Informal Anarchist Federation
(FAI) have been forced into an "operational stasis".
