UEFA confirms two closed-door games for Lazio

Rome, March 11 - European soccer governing body
(UEFA) upheld its decision on Monday forcing Rome's Lazio club
to play its next two home games in the Europa League behind
closed doors due to reported acts of racism by its fans.
The sanctions, including a 40,000-euro fine, were levied
following a February match against Germany's Borussia
Moenchengladbach when Lazio fans reportedly gave a Fascist
straight-armed salute.
Defenders of Lazio suggest it was merely a military
gesture, not political or fascist.
"This is an abnormal measure," Lazio club president Claudio
Lotito said following Monday's decision by the UEFA jury.
Lazio fans are already under fire for previous racist
In one case, Lazio fans were accused of anti-Semitic abuse
against Tottenham Hotspur supporters during a Europa League
match in Rome last November.
