Iranian president asks Pope Francis to push for UN reforms

(ANSA) – Tehran, March 18 – Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad on Monday called upon newly elected Pope Francis to
push for reform of the United Nations.
In a message congratulating the new pope on his election,
Ahmadinejad said international institutions need to be reformed
in order to guarantee global peace and justice, Iranian news
agency Fars wrote Sunday.
In his letter, the Iranian president made reference to the
current international crisis and said the world had a desperate
need for reform of its current, unjust structures.
Ahmadinejad also reminded the pope how the common mission
of all religious prophets is to invite oppressed peoples to
fight and seek justice.
