'Impossible' for Italy to move ahead without government

Palermo, March 29 - Italian Senate Speaker Pietro
Grasso said on Friday that it is "impossible" for the country to
move ahead without a government.
"I expect that eventually this country will have a
government because without one it is impossible for parliament
to function," he said after meeting with Sicily's Governor
Rosario Crocetta in Palermo.
On Thursday, comedian-turned-politician Beppe Grillo of
the 5-Star Movement (M5S) said that parliament can
still pass measures even if it can't agree on a new executive to
replace outgoing Premier Mario Monti's emergency technocrat
"A government is not necessary for a new election law or
to launch urgent measures for small and medium-sized companies
or to scrap the (nation's) provincial governments," added
Grasso called for the urgent formation of a government on
Thursday, the final day of center-left Democratic Party leader
Pier Luigi Bersani's unsuccessful exploratory mandate to forge
"This nation needs a government at all costs in order to
restart", Grasso said.
