Sodoma, comic take on Gomorra, out in Campania

Naples, April 4 - A Naples Mob comedy that hopes to
get some of the success of the Cannes Jury Prize winner Gomorra
is getting a limited release on the Camorra's home turf of
Campania and will travel to two more northern regions.
Naples director Vincenzo Pirozzi says his film,
'Sodoma...l'altra faccia di Gomorra' (Sodom, the Other Side of
Gomorrah) "sees the funny side but never underestimates the harm
the Camorra does".
Gomorra by Matteo Garrone, adapted from Roberto Saviano's
mafia novel of the same name, won the second prize at Cannes in
2008 and achieved critical and commercial success.
Pirozzi said Sodoma was launching with 30 screenings in
cinemas in Campania through May 8.
The film will also be premiered to audiences in the Northern
and Central Italian regions of Piedmont and Marche, though dates
still need to be determined.
The film showcases a noted local comic trio,
Ardone-Peluso-Massa, as well as 36 Neapolitan actors.
US actor Al Pacino has permitted several scenes from his
film ''Scarface'' to be inserted free of charge in the movie.
