Naples 'City of Science' partly reopens after blaze

Naples, April 11 - Naples' Citta' della Scienza
(City of Science) complex partly reopened to the public on
Thursday, five weeks after being almost totally destroyed by
Children now have access to a 2,000 square meter area at
the interactive science museum that attracted 350,000 visitors
annually and was considered one of the city's cultural gems.
Education Minister Francesco Profumo told local school
children at the inauguration that the facility would be totally
rebuilt in less than two years.
"It will be more beautiful than before and naturally it
will be rebuilt here and in less than two years because the
time-frame is all important," said the minister.
"Today is an important day because it is a sign that the
Citta' della Scienza is back," concluded Profumo.
The City of Science burned down during the night of March
4-5 in what Naples Mayor Luigi de Magistris has openly suspected
to be mafia foul play.
Traces of gasoline were found in several parts of the
complex a week after the blaze.
