The work has been finalized just before the April 25 feast
day of Saint Mark, the patron saint of the city, its great
cathedral and its bell tower, or campanile.

could again collapse, as it did in July 1902, when the campanile

the foundation have been repaired and the campanile shored up
with titanium bars to prevent sagging and cracking.
