Pope to pay first visit to a Roman parish May 26

Vatican City, April 19 - Pope Francis will pay his
first visit to a Roman parish in his capacity of bishop of Rome
on May 26, the Vatican said Friday.
The pope will celebrate the First Communion of 44 children
in the Santi Elisabetta and Zaccaria parish on the northern
outskirts of Rome, it said.
The Argentine pope, elected March 13, has been hailed for
his common touch and regularly kisses and caresses children
during his general audiences.
Francis was installed as bishop of the Italian capital
earlier this month at the San Giovanni in Laterano (St John
Lateran) basilica, the official church of the bishop of Rome.
Francis was elected by a conclave of cardinals to succeed
Benedict XVI as pope and bishop of Rome after the former pope's
shock abdication in February due to diminishing physical and
mental strength.
