Rome, April 28 - The two Carabinieri police
injured in a shoot out Sunday morning in front of the capital's
"Palazzo Chigi" (the premier's office) have been identified as
50-year-old Giuseppe Giangrande and 30-year-old Francesco Negri,
from Tuscany.
Both are in stable condition and being treated in a Rome
hospital.
The shooter, Luigi Preiti acted alone, sources said.
The 46-year old from Calabria shot six to seven times at
the two officers as premier designate Enrico Letta's cabinet was
being sworn in by President Giorgio Napolitano at the
presidential palace less than one kilometer away.
Preiti was apprehended as he tried to escape.
The two officers are being treated in a Rome hospital and
are said to be in stable condition.
A pregnant woman was also mildly injured, grazed by a
bullet as she was walking in the center with her husband and
son. She is being treated in a Rome hospital.
