Soccer: Totti hints could end career abroad

Rome, May 28 - AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has
hinted that he could end his career outside Italy and said would
have won soccer's most prestigious individual award twice if he
had moved to a top side like Real Madrid instead of sticking
with his home town's team throughout his career.
Totti, 36, told France Football that he was still
receiving "offers from important foreign clubs" even though he
is coming to the end of his career and did not rule out a move
The former Italy forward said his career would have been
more successful if he had succumbed to overtures from Real when
he was in his prime, but stressed that he was happy he stuck
with the team he supported since he was a child.
"If I'd gone to Real Madrid, I'd have won three Champions
Leagues, two Ballon d'Or (world player of the year awards) and
lots besides," said Totti.
"I'd have had more possibilities, there's no doubt. But I
prefer what I did, although I have some regrets about not having
won one or two more Italian league titles".
Totti, the Italian top-flight's all-time second top-scorer
with 227 goals, only won one Serie A title with Roma, in 2001.
He also helped Roma win the Italian Cup in 2007 and 2008
and was part of Italy's 2006 World Cup-winning team.
When asked for a word to describe Roma's city rivals Lazio,
Totti said "nothing".
Lazio beat Roma 1-0 in Sunday's Italian Cup final.
