Police in Bari arrest two families for alleged drug sales


(ANSA) – Bari, May 31 – Law enforcement officers in the
southern Italian city of Bari have arrested two families for the
alleged sale of illegal drugs in the area.
The two families were resident in the Ceglie del Campo
neighbourhood of Bari and stand accused of criminal association
relating to the holding of and the sale of illegal substances.
The two families are reportedly related to each other.
The Carabinieri military police have taken 56-year-old Anna
Marino into custody, together with her daughters Giovanna e
Isabella Greco, respectively 39 and 35.
In addition, her son-in-law Salvatore Decaro, 44 and
married to Giovanna Greco was arrested.
The 24-year old daughter of Salvatore Decaro and Giovanna
Greco and grandchild of Anna Marino, Nicoletta Decaro, is under
house arrest.
The investigation carried out by the Bari police dismantled
a drugs ring managed by the Marino and Decaro families.
The families not only purchased the illegal substances, but
then also went on to sell them.
Operations were being run from the two adjacent houses the
people lived in, permitting them to not only ensure 24-hour
possession of the substances, but also to sell it at any time of
the day or night.
