Cycling: Italian rider Santambrogio tests positive for EPO

Rome, June 3 - Italian cyclist Mauro Santambrogio
has failed a doping test taken during last month's Giro
d'Italia, ANSA sources said Monday.
Santambrogio, 28, tested positive for the blood booster EPO
in a sample that was taken after the first stage of the Giro in
Naples,the sources said.
Santambrogio won the 14th stage of last month's Giro.
He races for Vini Fantini Selle Italia, the same team
Danilo Di Luca rode for before being sacked after it was
announced he had tested positive for EPO with just two days left
to run at the Giro.
Di Luca, the winner of the 2007 Giro, risks a life ban as
he was also suspended for two years in 2009 after testing
positive for another drug, CERA, in the world's second-biggest
stage race that year, when he came second before being
stripped of his place in the standings.
Di Luca was also banned for three months in 2007
for links to a doping-tainted doctor.
