Sicily's Tasca d'Almerita wins Bibenda's best white


Rome, June 4 - The 2013 edition of the Italian
wine sommeliers' guide Bibenda awarded the annual 'Oscar' to
Sicilian producer Tasca d'Almerita's 2010 Chardonnay in the
white category and Tuscany's Tenuta San Guido's 2009 Bolgheri
Sassicaia as the top red, the sommeliers' association AIS said
on Tuesday.
The Bibenda guide, known for the last 12 years as
Duemilavini, gives yearly reviews based on the AIS's 100-point
scheme, awarding top wines with 'grapppoli' (grape bunches),
five grappoli being the highest possible rating.
In the rose' category, Puglia's Five Roses Anniversario
2011 by Leone de Castris was the winner, in the sparkling
category there was a tie between Lombardy's Franciacorta Gran
Cuvee Brut 2007 by Bellavista and Puglia's Gran Cuvee XXI Secolo
2007 by D'Arapri' estates.
Alto Adige's Moscato Rosa 2010 won best dessert wine,
while Abruzzo producer of Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Leonardo Pizzolo,
was awarded best label design for its Vigna Capestrano 2010
Valle Reale.
