PdL steady at top, PD down a bit, M5S up a tad says poll

Rome, June 7 - Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's
People of Freedom (PdL) is holding its own as Italy's most
favoured political party in a snapshot of public opinion
released Friday.
The survey by the SWG Institute found that 27.7% of voters
polled favoured the PdL, essentially unchanged from last week's
figures, while 25.1% said they would vote for the Democratic
Party (PD), a decline of 0.7% from voters' intentions expressed
one week earlier.
Those two parties are working together in a coalition
government headed by the PD's Premier Enrico Letta.
In contrast, the 5-Star Movement (M5S) saw a rise in public
opinion of 0.8% to reach 19.9% support from the 1,500 voters
surveyed by SWG on behalf of RAI3 television earlier this week.
The survey's margin of error was plus or minus 2.9%, which
suggests the PD and M5S could possibly be tied in public
The SEL party also saw a bump up of 0.5% to 5.5% while the
Northern League slipped by 0.4% to 4.3% voter support and the
Civic Choice lost 0.5% to fall to 4.7%.
