Benigni, hinted for 'Inferno' role, invites Brown to show

Florence, June 10 - Roberto Benigni said Thursday
he hoped bestselling novelist Dan Brown comes to one his live
shows since he is interested in casting the Oscar-winning
performer in an adaptation of his new book 'Inferno'.
"I hope he comes one evening. Our staffs are in touch,
we'll have a meeting," said Benigni.
Brown, known for blockbusters such as The Da Vinci Code and
Angels and Demons, said in Florence last week he wanted the
filmmaker and star of Life is Beautiful to appear in a highly
anticipated film version of 'Inferno', which is centered around
Dante's Medieval masterpiece the Inferno, the first in his
three-part epic poem The Divine Comedy.
Brown called Benigni "a great Dante Scholar" for his
routine performances of Dante's epic poetry from memory before
sold-out venues in Italy, the next series of which takes place
in Florence July 6-20.
Benigni, who was performing excerpts of Dante at the
mayor's office inside Florence's famed Palazzo Vecchio Monday,
confessed he still needed to read Brown's book, which was
released mid-May and immediately became a number-one bestseller.
"I'm not sure what he's written, but already the title,
'Inferno', is extraordinary and very beautiful," he said.
