Breast cancer cases in Italy growing by 30,000 per year

Rome, June 11 - The number of cases of breast
cancer being reported in Italy is growing by 30,000 per year,
according to statistics released Tuesday.
That represents an increase of 13.8% over the past six
years, and is now the most common form of cancer in women
between ages 35 and 50, according to Dr. Federica Pediconi of
Rome's Sapienza University.
Early diagnosis remains critical to successful treatment,
she told a conference on cancer.
The most dangerous forms of cancer are often found in
younger women, experts say.
Early onset of tumours are often linked with the most
severe forms of the disease.
Worldwide, 14% of all deaths are from breast cancer, based
on 2008 data.
