Soccer: Match-winner Balotelli vows to keep shirt on


Rome, June 16 - Mario Balotelli has pledged to
keep his shirt on after he was booked for displaying his bare
chest in celebration after scoring the winning goal in Italy's
2-1 over Mexico in their Confederations Cup opener in Brazil.
The 22-year-old forward is now in danger of getting a
one-match suspension if he gets another yellow card in
Wednesday's second Group A match against Japan.
"I didn't know about this rule about two yellow cards
(incurring a suspension)," the AC Milan striker told state
broadcaster Rai.
"I won't do it next time".
Italy coach Cesare Prandelli praised Balotelli for a fine
performance in which he looked dangerous every time he received
the ball.
But he also called on him to stop taking off his shirt
after he did the same thing at Euro 2012 after completing a
double to help Italy beat Germany 2-1 in the semi-finals.
"Mario must stop showing his muscles. Yellow cards count,"
Prandelli said. "Apart from that, bravo".
The coach also praised playmaker Andrea Pirlo, who
celebrated his 100th international appearance by pulling the
strings in a deserved victory and scoring Italy's opener by
whipping in a super free kick from outside the box.
