Liguria entices travellers with free ticket

Genova, June 27 - Hoteliers in Liguria have
banded together to entice travellers to visit the northern
region during Italy's longest-running economic crisis in 20
years that is squeezing the country's tourism industry.
Federalberghi, the country's hoteliers' association,
announced the initiative 'Liguria by Train' on Thursday, telling
travellers the trip is on them.
Together with State-controlled train company Trenitalia
and the region of Liguria, the promotion "is a way to invite
tourists to come to Liguria and make it affordable," Liguria
regional councillor Angelo Berlangieri said.
"Travellers coming by car will also be partially
reimbursement for the cost of petrol and car rental from the
airport to the hotel," Berlangieri said.
The offer, starting Friday, runs until December 31 and
applies to Frecciabianca, Intercity and regional trains and is
applicable for travellers spending minimum 50 euros per person
for hotel lodging, or 40 euros for bed and breakfasts.
