Rome, July 8 - The head of Rome's traffic police
has quit over a reported row with the city's recently
inaugurated Mayor Ignazio Marino.
It is reported that chief Carlo Buttarelli stepped down
over differences with the mayor on how to handle illegal street
vendors that operate in the city center.
However, the 58-year-old police chief, who was appointed
by former mayor Gianni Alemanno, cited personal motives in his
resignation.
