President Giorgio Napolitano cannot persuade the government to

Grillo, leader of the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement
(M5S), spoke after a 90-minute meeting with Napolitano in the
president's office.

Eventually, Napolitano appointed Enrico Letta of the
centre-left Democratic Party (PD) as premier at the head of a
fragile left-right coalition.
Wednesday, that coalition faced another crisis as the PD's
partner - ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's People of Freedom (PdL)
party - threatened action against the judiciary after the
supreme court tabled his final appeal in a potentially
career-ending tax-fraud case for July 30.
Meanwhile, Grillo also said the government should do more
for seniors and other Italian citizens while cutting spending on
military programs including the F-35 jet fighter program.
